Capacity and footprint
Size the sauna for how you will use it.
Capacity is not just a person count. Bench length, sitting versus lying down, heater clearance, door movement, ceiling height, glass area, and the surrounding room all affect the usable design.
Choose daily capacity—not holiday capacity
A room sized for the largest gathering may take longer to heat, cost more, and use space you rarely need. Start with the number of people who will use it most weeks, then decide whether occasional guests justify a larger bench.
Plan the bench experience
If lying down matters, bench length may drive the room more than seat count. Traditional rooms also benefit from deliberate bench height relative to the heater and ceiling. Use the selected heater manufacturer’s room-volume and clearance instructions.
